Eric Vs. 365 - Day 29 - Wheel of Fortune

For day 29 of Eric Vs. 365 we played the 2017 Ubisoft version of Wheel of Fortune. Eric had so much fun playing Jeopardy! a few weeks ago that he went ahead and played WoF too. Just like in Jeopardy! there is a secret to winning at Wheel of Fortune that we share right here. Continue reading for more.

Ubisoft's Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune games both get lumped together as being pretty crappy, but Wheel of Fortune at least has most of the key presentation elements from the show intact - minus Pat and Vanna - while Jeopardy! was pretty flat and half-assed. Wheel of Fortune also makes for a better multiplayer game since it plays just like the TV show - everyone takes turns and you have to actually know how to spell - compared to Jeopardy! which was just mashing the button to buzz in to pick from multiple choice answers. As such, Wheel of Fortune is not actually as crappy as Jeopardy! like people would lead you to believe. It still isn't great, but it isn't horrible.

For this video I played solo again, but Andrew and I have played this version of the game on the channel before, which you can see here. In this new video I had to play two games because the first one went fairly horribly, though there were still some funny parts I kept in. In the second game, however, I got all of the answers and didn't let the A.I. players get any money, cause screw them I'm the best.

I will say that editing things like Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune playing solo is quite different from editing multiplayer videos of them. Multiplayer has two or more people all making jokes and being entertaining, which gives you a lot of content to pull from. Playing solo and being entertaining while also being competent at the game is a lot harder, which makes editing harder. There are long stretches of nothing interesting happening that you have to choose between keeping in to keep the actual game show in context or cutting out to keep the pacing moving along and make it an entertaining video. I opted for the latter. I hope it's OK.
