Eric Vs. 365 - Day 43 - Catz (GBA)

Day 43 (!) of Eric Vs. 365 is Catz for GBA. Why am I playing freaking Catz? Because I like cats (with an "S"), that's why! These virtual pet sims are always pretty entertaining and this one, despite being on the GBA, is really pretty solid. Continue reading more about Catz and watch gameplay after the jump.

As you can probably guess if you've been watching / reading Eric Vs. 365 up to this point, I played Catz by making a virtual version of my real cat Mughi. Mughi is a gray who-knows-what-breed from an inbred genetic soup of semi-wild barn cats, so I just picked whatever breed was gray. In this case, I chose a Russian Blue. I actually think Mughi has some Korat in him - look here at Korat cats and tell me it doesn't look like Mughi - but that wasn't an option.

As for the game itself, it's a pretty standard virtual pet game. You have to feed, water, clean up after, and play with your cat every day. In a somewhat funny mechanic you only have a limited amount of time each day but doing anything takes for-freaking-ever. You cat eats for 50 minutes and drinks water for 30 minutes, for example, so by the time your cat is fed half the day is gone already. The game is also kind of silly in that your cat is afraid of everything you do for the first several days, which is just weird.

This video went kind of weird because I wasn't sure what my objective was going to be, but as I played it became clear. You see, my virtual Mughi didn't go to the bathroom at all for the first 3+ days for whatever reason and I wasn't going to stop until it happened. And boy, did it ever happen. All over the place. The video ended on a nice note, though, with virtual Mughi finally trusting my stupid snot-nosed kid character and jumping on the bed to sleep with him. That was nice.

I'm gonna play more virtual pet games in the future. Be warned.
