Eric Vs. 365 - Day 46 - Castlevania Judgment

On day 46 of Eric Vs. 365 Andrew joins in the fun as they play the sort of interesting Wii exclusive fighter Castlevania Judgment. It's kind of like Soul Calibur. Sort of. And it has lots of Castlevania fanservice. Kind of. It's actually pretty fun. Watch gameplay and read all about it right here.

Castlevania Judgment is a 3D fighting game that squeezes in just enough Caslevania fanservice to be sort of interesting. The gameplay is an open arena that you are free to run around in anywhere you want and you can use melee attacks, magic, beloved Castlevania items like daggers or axes, cinematic special attacks, and more. Each character has unique moves and it's pretty decent in that regard. The soundtrack features remixes of classic Castlevania themes and they're all pretty darn good. Stages include 3D arena-style versions of Castlevania locales and are well done as well. It's decently fun.

The only problem is that none of the characters are at all how you remember them. Sure, they have names like Simon and Trevor and Maria and Alucard, but they're pretty much all either turned into little anime kids or anime bishonen for some reason. None of them are the strong, cool, tough characters we're used to, and that's weird.

We had a fairly good time playing it anyway, though. Along with multiplayer there are fights against the A.I. as well as an interesting Castle mode where you fight waves of generic fodder CPU enemies as you make your way from room to room in Dracula's castle.
