Eric Vs. 365 - Day 133 - Warpath: Jurassic Park

Dinosaurs fighting each other? We've seen that before (Primal Rage) and it wasn't very good. Somehow, though. Some way. Warpath: Jurassic Park on PSX is actually kind of fun. A lot more fun than reviews have led us to believe all these years. Click to read more and watch.

Of all of the old Jurassic Park games I've been playing, I have to admit that I was most excited about Warpath: Jurassic Park. It always looked so cool and the concept is solid. And it has no stupid puny humans getting in the way of amazing awesome dinosaurs doing amazing awesome dinosaur stuff. It got terrible reviews, though, so my expectations were low.

And I was pleasantly surprised. I can definitely see how it can get repetitive since your dino of choice only has a handful of moves, but it is fun! It's more of a tactical fighter than I expected since side stepping and blocking is very, very important here. Because your moves are kind of slow and have a limited range, you have to really pick your moments carefully while playing defense in between. The different types of dinosaurs each pose unique challenges, too. This game is better than its reputation indicated.

I had a good time playing as a T-Rex - my favorite dinosaur - and tearing my way through the arcade mode. I seriously wouldn't mind a remake with good visuals and the fighting cleaned up a bit. People would love it.
