Eric Vs. 365 - Day 210 - Tales of Berseria

Tales of Berseria is the best Tales game. Yeah, I know that sounds crazy. Tales of Vesperia is everyone's favorite. But I played both Berseria and the Vesperia remaster fairly close together and surprised myself when I discovered that Berseria is better in almost every way. It's just a deeper, more interesting game with better presentation, a just as likeable cast, and a better overall story. I still like both games a lot, of course, but Berseria has bumped Vesperia off of the pedestal I've had it on for the last ten years. Read more and watch gameplay right here.

I really, really like Berseria. I love Velvet. I love that people who obviously never played the game get really uncomfortable about Velvet's default outfit. I love the story where you play as the "bad guys" Even though what they're doing is going to benefit everyone. I love that you can put therapy cats on everyone's head. I love the freaking Katz Korner secret zone at the end of the game. I love that Velvet is allergic to cats. Oh my god I love cats so much ... and also Tales of Berseria.
I don't exactly love the combat - it's really convoluted and over complicated, but at least you can just sort of brute force your way through most of the game even if you don't really "get" the combat. The combat is at least interesting, though, and tries to be more complex than most JRPG battle systems. Hopefully, though, they tone it down a bit for Tales of Arise.

Speaking of Tales of Arise, I suddenly realized that is one of my most anticipated 2020 games. I'll buy it day one with no hesitation. I just wish we knew more about it. It was announced at E3 2019 and has just been AWOL ever since ...

Anyway, this video is all about calling people out about being uptight about Velvet's outfit and giggling about all of the goof cat stuff in the game. Heh.
