Eric Vs. 365 - Day 221 - Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Mario Kart 8 was great to begin with and then they pumped out Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for Switch and made it even better. Yeah, I double-dipped on Mario Kart 8 with no regrets, though I did wait for a sale (plus extra gift cards) to make it cheaper. I also played on Switch with an Xbox One controller via an 8bitdo adapter, which is what this blog will really be about. Read on for more and to watch Mario Kart 8 Deluxe gameplay.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe needs no introduction. Tons of characters. Tons of tracks. A bunch of modes. Plenty to do on or offline. It's a great package.

It also kinda plays like butt on Switch because the Joycons are trash controllers. I'm sure the Switch Pro Controller is much better, but I ain't spendin' $70 for a new controller I'll barely use on a system I barely play. So, instead, I improvised.

I already have an Xbox One controller. And I already had an 8bitdo adapter that I used with the PlayStation Classic. Slap that thing into the Nintendo Switch dock and you can use an Xbox One controller on Switch with basically no setup. It has to be the newer model (post Xbox One S release) controller with Bluetooth, but once the controller is synced to the adapter it just works. Thanks to superior buttons and stick placement, suddenly playing Switch games isn't so bad now.

The 8bitdo adapter works with Switch, PS Classic, PC, PS3, PS4, and more, though not all controllers are compatible with all systems. For $20 it's a great investment.
