Eric Vs. 365 - Day 222 - Senran Kagura Peach Ball

Senran Kagura Peach Ball is a mess of dumb nonsense that shouldn't really exist. And I kind of love it. It's an OK pinball game where you smack the Senran Kagura girls (in animal cosplay) with balls until they sploosh and turn back to normal. Seriously, that's what you do. It's total anime fanservice trash, but it is weirdly fun and satisfying, too. Read more and watch gameplay right here.

I really like Senran Kagura, but it took me a long time to finally buy Peach Ball. The concept is just so dumb and somehow it's even more pervy and embarrassing than the normal games. I couldn't justify paying full price for it. Thankfully, it eventually went on sale at a reasonable price on the Switch eShop, so I bought it. And it's pretty good. There are only a handful of tables and only a fraction of the Senran Kagura cast is present, so it absolutely isn't worth the $40 MSRP, but if you can get it for closer to $20 I'd say it's worth a look.

The gist of the game is that some of the Senran Kagura girls accidentally got turned into animal girls - catgirl, bear girl, dog girl, etc. - and if they don't get the antidote fast enough they'll turn entirely into animals instead of just sexy girls in animal cosplay. The antidote is only activated when the girls (or the antidote?) is agitated enough, so the obvious way to do that was to strap the girls into a pinball machine and smack them with balls made of the antidote. Or something? I can't remember the specifics. It's dumb as hell for sure, though.

So you play fairly normal pinball. By completing missions on each table you fill up the girls excitement meter (or whatever) and when that's full you get a special minigame. Do that three times and the girl is saved from wearing animal cosplay. The pinball is simple and the tables are simple, but the combination of the pinball plus the girls squealing and squirming is surprisingly engaging and fun. I like it. I genuinely like it.

I also really wish that we could just get a normal new Senran Kagura beat-em-up game again. It's been years since we got a new (not remake) one and I'd love to see what they would do fully dedicated to PS4 hardware rather than being held back by the Vita. The creator of Senran Kagura is kind of lukewarm on it, though, because Sony suddenly got a conscience and doesn't want to do pervy anime games anymore and he doesn't want to censor his stuff too much. I just want more Senran Kagura, dammit.
