Eric Vs. 365 - Day 229 - Koihime Enbu RyoRaiRai

Koihime Enbu RyoRaiRai is one of the most under-appreciated fighters of the generation. People look at the busty all girl cast and snobbishly turn their noses up at it, but it's actually a surprisingly complex and deep fighter underneath the cheesecake. Read on for more (mostly about the Koihime Musou anime ...) and watch gameplay right here.

I explain the gameplay fairly well in my review of Koihime Enbu RyoRaiRai, so check that out for specifics on how the game actually plays. It's a lot more strategic than you'd expect and actually plays fairly differently from most fighters. It's a lot of fun to play once you figure everything out. Sadly, I had forgotten "everything" when I recorded this video, so I didn't show it off very well. Sorry.

The presentation is another strong point, though, and I think I did that justice at least. The game looks fantastic and the characters are really great looking. I know that puritanical non-anime folks won't like the designs, but I love me some big booby anime nonsense and this more than delivers.

I want to give some love to the Koihime Musou anime that this game is based on, as well. I was going to say "You can buy a collection with all three seasons of the anime for cheap", which is what I have, but that isn't the case any more (it's $125 now!). Oops. You can buy the seasons separately for more reasonable amounts, and I highly recommend it. It's another all-girl rendition of the Three Kingdoms era of China, which there are tons of in anime, but this one is my favorite. I like the characters. I like the artwork. I love the music. And, surprisingly enough, despite this being an anime about incredibly strong fighters who easily dispatch their foes in every encounter, the show isn't actually all that action oriented. They find other solutions for most of the conflicts than just fighting, and the way they work things out in the end is always unexpected and entertaining.

Watch Koihime Musou. Play Koihime Enbu RyoRaiRai. Do it.
