Eric Vs. 365 - Day 282 - Gun Gun Pixies

Gun Gun Pixies is simultaneously exactly what I expected, but also better than I thought it would be. It's a pervy third-person-shooter where you play as tiny little alien girls who watch human girls do stuff and shoot them with happy bullets. It's pure fanservice and nonsense, but it actually plays pretty well and more than delivers the cute anime girls weeaboos crave. Read more and watch gameplay here.

I've been interested in Gun Gun Pixies pretty much since I first saw it. It was so unabashedly ecchi and ridiculous that I knew I had to play it. I didn't want to pay $60 damn dollars for it, though, so I waited. And then it suddenly dropped to $30 or less at GameStop and immediately sold out but physical copies everywhere else went up in price and then the Coronapocalypse happened and I don't think I want physical stuff anymore anyway ... So I bought it on sale off the Nintendo eShop for $40. Whatever. It's fine.

The concept behind the game is that you play as a pair of little alien pixies sent to study Earth women to bring new culture back to their home planet. Or something. Really, it just gives you an excuse to run around as super cute pixies and watch super cute giant girls do stuff. Panty shots, awkward revealing poses, cleavage, bouncing breasts, pervy dialogue - it's all here just like in all of your favorite anime!

You have to run around and jump on stuff around each of the rooms in order to discover new stuff and get the right vantage point for things, and the platforming is actually pretty solid. It feels quite good to control, though the camera does flip out and screw you over now and then. All in all, though, I don't really have any complaints.

Gun Gun Pixies is intended for a very niche, very specific audience. If you think moe and fanservice has ruined anime, it clearly isn't for you. If, on the other hand, anime like Shuffle, Girls Bravo, Kanokon, Heaven's Lost Property, Cat Planet Cuties, etc. are on your shelf*, you'll love Gun Gun Pixies.

*Yes, I have all of these.
