Eric Vs. 365 - Day 326 - Burnout Revenge

I know a lot of people prefer Burnout 3 over Burnout Revenge, but at least we can all agree that Burnout Paradise sucks, right? Today's game is the Xbox 360 port (on Xbox One) of Burnout Revenge. It's good, but that 2006 coat of "next gen" paint is kinda iffy. Read more and watch gameplay here.

I'll be honest, I didn't realize until now how bad the Xbox 360 port of Burnout Revenge looks compared to the PS2 and Xbox originals. The OG Xbox version is sharp and clear and looks great still while the Xbox 360 port is weirdly blurry and off looking. Back when it released I thought it was great. Now I see it ain't so great.

It still plays fine, though. A lot of people didn't like the car checking focus on Burnout Revenge where you could run into the back of NPC cars and send them careening up the track to create all sorts of chaos. I like it. It ratchets the Burnout gameplay up another notch and makes it more interesting than just having more Burnout 3. That's an interesting thing about the Burnout series, actually, in that every game is kind of wildly different from the others.

I also think that it's interesting that this Xbox 360 port was the only "next gen" version of Burnout Revenge. Same with Battlefield 2. Back in 2006 Electronic Arts was weird, I guess.
