Fun fact, Forza Motorsport 7 is the first Forza Motorsport I had to spend my own money on. I got review copies / codes for all the rest. This is why I didn't actually buy it until 2.5 years after release. Uh, yeah. Well, I know now I shouldn't have waited. It plays freaking amazingly well, looks goddamn ridiculously good, and has all of the cars and tracks I could ever want.
The reason why I hesitated to buy it is two-fold. First, I didn't like the career setup in Forza Motorsport 6 very much - jumping around the world with narration and cinematic BS for everything - and I expected FM7 to be similar. It isn't. It went back to a more straightforward approach, which is much better. Second, I just don't play games the way I used to. I used to pour dozens and dozens of hours into racing games like Gran Turismo 2 / 3, and Forza Motorsport 1-4, but since those days I just don't have the time or desire to spent so much time on a racing game, so I didn't want to pay full MSRP for a game I'd get bored of sooner rather than later.
With that said, Forza Motorsport 7 is flippin' amazing and has sold me day 1 on Forza Motorspot 8. Instead of the every-other-year release schedule the series had followed up until this point, Turn 10 has actually taken an extra year to work on FM8 - presumably for Xbox Series X launch - so I have fairly high expectations that it will be another excellent entry. It isn't like Forza Motorsport 5 which was rushed and half-assed and severely lacking features for the Xbox One launch. FM8 should be fully loaded, fully featured, and polished like we've come to expect from the series. I can't wait.
