I Don't Want to Keep Playing Destiny 2 for Years, I Just Want Destiny 3

Sorry Bungie, but I don't want to keep playing Destiny 2 for several more years. I know the big plan is for it to keep getting refreshed and content will cycle in and out and blah blah blah, but I don't want this. I know this is how all "living" service games are, but I don't want this. I'm not going to go back to Destiny 2. I'm going to keep waiting for Destiny 3.

I'm one of those people that actually liked Destiny 2 when it came out and then liked the Forsaken expansion a lot as well. The key to Destiny is that you play it until you run out of content, then you stop playing for a while and come back when a new expansion comes out. Too many other people want to just keep playing forever and then complain that they were bored. They were doing it wrong.

Well, that's how it was before, anyway. After Forsaken Bungie started doing content seasons and events with lots of frequent little updates instead of just one big one every year or so. That kept the whiners happy, because they had a steady stream of content, but for someone like me that likes to duck in and out every once in a while, all of the new stuff is just overwhelming. I don't know where to begin. And I'm someone that played Destiny 2 for a year and a half, but now I have no idea what's going on or how to access the new content or anything. Add on top of that how they have changed light / levels / weapons a couple times and I'm totally lost. I don't know how truly new players are supposed to get into the game at all at this point because it's just a mess.

They announced that content will cycle in and out, and I suppose that will help, but I can't help also feeling like Destiny 2 has totally left me behind. I didn't keep up with it for a year and a half after Forsaken and now I have no idea what's going on. I actually did buy the Shadowkeep expansion on sale recently with the intention of getting back into it, but I couldn't parse what the hell I was supposed to do next and everything seemed confusing and convoluted so I said screw Destiny 2 forever and asked Microsoft for a refund on Shadowkeep (which they granted, because Xbox is cool).

So I'm done with Destiny 2. It was a fun 200+ something hours, but now it's too big and convoluted and I don't care anymore. And I'm not going to care until they hit reset on the whole thing again with Destiny 3. See you then! It might be never, but whatever.
