Eric Vs. 365 - Day 102 - NBA Jam On Fire Edition

EA Sports' NBA Jam reboot was a pretty darn fun new take on NBA Jam and then they just, like, forgot about it for some reason. They decided to keep making crappy NBA Live games that no one wanted instead, and that's a shame. For day 102 of Eric Vs. 365 we played NBA Jam On Fire Edition and had loads of fun. What we want to talk about in this blog, however, is being a fan of teams that never win. Come along and join us.

NBA Jam On Fire Edition is fun and great and fine. Probably not as good as NBA Jam TE on SNES, but it's still good.

With that out of the way, I want to talk about my endless days of suffering as a sports fan. My favorite teams are the Phoenix Suns in the NBA, Minnesota Vikings in the NFL, Seattle Mariners in the MLB, and San Jose Sharks in the NHL. I would say I've been a sports fan since, say, 1992 or so when I was 9 years old, and in that time my teams have won ZERO championships and have only made championship round appearances twice. Below are records only since I've been a fan.

Phoenix Suns - 1 NBA Finals loss. 3 Conference Finals losses. Lots of playoff heartbreak. 9 years since last playoff appearance.

San Jose Sharks - 1 Stanley Cup Finals loss. 4 Conference Finals losses. Lots of playoff heartbreak.

Seattle Mariners - 0 World Series appearances. 3 ALCS losses. Only 4 playoff appearances in entire history. 18 years since last playoff appearance.

Minnesota Vikings - 0 Super Bowl appearances. 4 Conference finals losses. Tons (and tons) of playoff heartbreak. Currently stuck with Kirk Cousins at QB.

That's a lot of heartbreak and losing. But you know what? I'm loyal. My favorite teams have never really changed. I made my picks as a kid or a teenager and have stuck with them. Maybe one of these days I'll finally be rewarded. Loads of other long-suffering fan bases have won in recent years, so it'll be our turn someday. Right?
