Eric Vs. 365 - Day 130 - Jurassic Park NES

We've been in a Jurassic Park mood lately so for day 130 of Eric Vs. 365 we're taking a look at Ocean Software's Jurassic Park for NES. With solid gameplay and some truly amazing music, Jurassic Park NES holds up surprisingly well even in 2019. Click to read more and watch gameplay.

For whatever reason Amazon doesn't allow e-commerce linking to Jurassic Park NES. Click here to use our link and shop all Jurassic Park games, including JP NES, instead.

Jurassic Park NES is the JP game I grew up with. I never played the SNES version until much later - and don't think it's very good now that I've tried it ... - and never played the Master System / Genesis games until now, so all I knew was the NES game and I loved it. I was also 10-11 at the time, but whatever.

The thing that has always stuck with me about Jurassic Park NES is how amazing the music is. The music is so catchy and memorable and awesome. Another story that has always stuck with me is how I got super far into it playing it as a rental when I was a kid but my dumb jerkface sister bitched and moaned that I was playing after bedtime on a school night so I had to turn it off. It wasn't until years and years later that I ever got that far again.

Playing Jurassic Park NES has also been a stark reminder to me that I'm pretty much out of beloved childhood NES games now. I had an NES back in the late 80's, early 90's, and my family didn't have a lot of money so I didn't really have very many games. We rented things now and then, but I just didn't play much and most of it wasn't very memorable. The SNES is actually pretty much the same way. It wasn't until the N64 and everything since that I was able to play a ton of stuff and have a wide range of beloved games to draw from.

I've been branching out to other platforms I never had as a kid lately, though, so I'm finding all sorts of interesting retro things to feature for Eric Vs. 365.

One thing about Jurassic Park NES. I did a full playthrough of it a couple of years ago, but it was back when we had a crappy microphone so it doesn't sound super good. I only played the first couple of levels for this new video (with a much better mic), so if you want to see the rest of the game check out our previous video here.
