Eric Vs. 365 - Day 178 - Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville

The second most disappointing game of 2019 for me (after EDF Iron Rain, but we'll get to that eventually) was easily Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville. This is not Garden Warfare 3. This is Plants vs. Zombies as an Overwatch clone and it blows. Read on for more and to watch gameplay.

It is honestly mind boggling to me how EA and PopCap have screwed up Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare over the years. They got the first game almost perfect, but then everything they've done since has ruined it. The levels in GW2 and BFN aren't nearly as good as the GW1 levels. The new characters they've introduced have totally thrown the game out of balance and it isn't fun anymore. And every time they try to re-balance it, they just make things worse.

What really bugs me about GW2 and BFN is that the end game objectives always, always, always suck. You fight through multiple stages and get to the end and then it's either confusing on what you're supposed to do or the defending side has a huge advantage. It isn't fun. Being an attacker in these games isn't fun anymore.

I bought the early access founder's edition or whatever it was for Battle for Neighborville because I loved GW1 and tolerated GW2 and wanted to show my support. It was $30 wasted, honestly. Battle for Neighborville is an unbalanced Overwatch wannabe where grinding for new skins and decorative trinkets is the name of the game. The grind is AWFUL here as you have to play a ridiculous amount of matches to unlock anything. On top of that, they're constantly adding new limited time crap to grind for that you can only get during special events. I don't have time for this.

Just give me Garden Warfare 3, dammit. Or, maybe not. Maybe just give me Garden Warfare 1 with new maps. That would be fine, too.
